Headlamp/taillamp lens Part number

Post by dachoppa »

finally got around to cleaning my takeot lens from my rear taillamp. (note: Both rear taillamp and front headlamp are the same assembly according to the manual)

Anayway, my lens is cracked in half. BUT, at least I got it and can read it.

Here is whats written on the edge:

K-D LAMP CO. No. 4228

further along the edge is yet anotehr part number. it reads:

L.L. Co. 2098

it also has written in bold, across the top half:

BACK UP LIGHT
SO, THERE YA HAVE IT.. IF ANYONE FINDS A LISTING FOR ANYTHING, PLEASE ADVISE!

if any of you guys are bidding on the auction on Ebay of the #4428 L-D lamp. with numbers that I posted, be CAREFUL!!

I am not so sure this is correct.

THe lens IS exactly like mine, EXACTLY.... the trim ring is identical too. Even the bucket looks like the same size and shape.. BUT..

the mounting area on the bucket is completly different than mine, and I beleive mine to be an original.

look cloesly... I asked the seller to post a better picture on the auction to see this mounting area, and that why I am not bidding.

I was guessing that the headlight would be a K D lamp Co. product as the Clark CT-6 tractor of the period also uses K D lamp headlights. The Clark tractor uses a different size and shape of bowl the K D 866/867 bowl. What is the diameter of the light lense and the dimensions of the bowl??

Normally the light bowl will have the part number stamped into it, such as K D 866. Would be good to know what light bowl we are all looking for. I will post a picture of the stamping when I get a moment.

So is it someone on here bidding on the headlight??????????

I need two complete headlights and brackets for my restoration.

Regards

I have checked my "bowl" or bucket as i call it, and I see NO stampings at all.

Shoot... Just the lens has the numbers.

If you get the numbers, please, if you would, please post the numbers here!

I re-checked my light bucket last night. I scrutinized every square in, every possible nook and cranny for any indication of ANY part number, and nothing is there..

Sorry.

CA 2080 LIGHT ASSEMBLY

KD #853

KD LAMP CO. NO. 4228
LANCASTER LENS CO. NO. 2098
4 1/2" CLEAR BACKUP LENS

KD #853 WAS ALSO USED ON:

AVERY “A” TRACTOR
OLIVER OC-3 DOZER

THESE TRACTORS DO NOT USE THE ‘L’ SHAPED MOUNTING BRACKET

ZIMMERMAN OLIVER-CLETRAC HAS A LENS THAT WILL FIT THE LIGHT, HOWEVER THE LENS IS A ‘HEADLIGHT STYLE REFRACTION’ NOT ‘BACKUP STYLE REFRACTION’

THE ‘EYEBOLT’ USED ON THE KD #853 IS THE SAME AS:

AVERY ‘A’
AVERY ‘R’
MINNEAPOLIS MOLINE (AVERY) ‘BF’
MINNEAPOLIS MOLINE (AVERY) ‘BG’

PART #120014 EYEBOLT

Thanks for the information. Iguessed someone would be able to find the k D number to make hunting one down on eBay easier! I spent years looking for headlights for my WWII Cletrac M2 only to find they were used on Bantam cars pre war. So tracked somedown on you know where!

I have just found what looks to be the correct light for the Clark, wrong mounting but easily modified. I will not be bidding as shipping and customs would be prohibative to the UK, plus I am currently restoring my Checy M6 bomb truck before finishing my Clark tractor and then the Clark CA-1!

Heres the link anyway, it may be of use to someone.
