RADIATOR...petcock or no?
RADIATOR...petcock or no?
Where these radiators supposed to originally have a petcock to drain it?
I see no evidence of this radiator ever having one.. So, I just pulled the bottom hose off and filled a pail set underneath to catch all the antifreeze and water.
messy tho.
I guess I should look closer. Maybe there is a plug or smething hidden in under all that dirt on the bottom end, but definately NO petcock I can see.

On the right front bottom there is a plug on mine. I can't see in there very well, could have had a petcock at one time, now only a sealed thingy. The manual shows one there as part 14-P9.

Re: RADIATOR...petcock or no?
I looked closer tonight.. NO petcock.. no plug. what gives?
I would think even a NON stock radiator of ANY type had a petcock to drain when required.
Ill double check again,, I cant beleive my eyes are that bad that I would miss a plug or even a soldered area should have been a place for a drain at some time

Re: RADIATOR...petcock or no?
I just went out and took a look at my radiator. It does have a petcock.
There is a fitting welded into the bottom hose outlet of the radiator to that is attached a 3/8 iron pipe elbow which on the other end of the elbow has a petcock.
It all looks original.
I will try and get pictures on Saturday.

hummm.. I am wondering now if I have a origianl radiator.
Here is what is embossed on the radiator tag:
MODINE MFG Co. RACINE, WIS. U.S.A.
model ; AD 47 18 - 024
You guys got anything like this on yours?
I got a pic of mine here...

yours look like this or no? I might very well have some sort of replacement radiator. Maybe it came off of the generator unit that this motor came from.. who knows.

Hey Bill,
What is that stuff on the bolt? Is that some sort of cushioning washer to prevent damage due to vibration? Can you tell what its made out of?
That is some fine detail!
