For Christmas I was given the book 'Operation Tonga: The Glider Assault'. It briefly mentions the three Clarks which were borrowed from the US and flown onboard Horsa Gliders to Normandy. One glider crashed in the channel, one crashed on landing destroying the Clark but one landed and managed to get the Clark offloaded. It began clearing obstacles immediately.

I'm an aircraft engineer in the Royal Air Force where I'm based at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire. Can you guess which airfield the three Horsa Gliders carrying the Clarks took off from? Yep, from Brize Norton. I guess owning a Clark was meant to be.
