Here is an 1944 American Machines & Metals print ad featuring the Clarkair CA-1. As a 43 year Clark employee and historian, I am bemused that AM&M's ad seems to imply to the reader that they designed the CA-1. Clark Equipment is not mentioned but then of course it is AM&M's ad.
Note: The actual magazine hardcopy of this ad is currently for sale on eBay. The item number is 110816405409.

Joe,
That's a good find to add to the story of the Clark. You are right. I read the add and it does seem deceptive. About 800 sets of parts were sent to AMM and they simply assembled them under a sub contract. They did, according to Clark Co. set up tooling and dies and build them under their name. I wonder if they just used Clark's drawings and data to do so?

Yes, I believe that is all that AM&M did. The CA-1 was not built long enough to go through the routine of engineering change orders, etc.

I think you are right. According to Clark they shipped the parts to AMM in September 43 and by the end of that same year they were building their own stuff with the exception of the transmissions and final drives. There is no way they could have completely designed and retooled in 2 months.
