The lubrication chart on the CA-1 dozer calls for "Sulfur free Oil" , what does that mean. I can't find any oil can that states that it is sulfur free. Thanks, Art

Well sulphur eats bronze and brass, so not good if that is in the tranny. most oils say something like "non active sulphur" but this is usually for diffs etc.

Where exactly did you read this statement? in the manuals?

Interesting, becourse I'll be at that point in the not too distant future.

HI AL glad to here from you gear oil that is gl5 will eat brass and bronze gl4 is sulfur free at least that is what I have been told as for a Clark I use straight 30 non detergent motor oil in every thing except the hydraulic tank I use universal tractor hydraulic fluid in it straight 30 is what the original manual calls for and seems to work fine

Ken, in the operation section of the manual there is a note. The note says, "Do not use a lubricant containing any free sulphur" but I also was going to use straight 30 weight non detergent now I am not sure. Sorry for the late response. Thanks Art

I think if you stay away from gear oil you will be ok but you have me wondering i am going to do some research

Yes, me too. I was even thinking about calling one of the producers such as Penzoil and ask about the sulphur question. Art
