Hello all:
I have been aware of this site for some time but never took the time to really examine it until now. Fell off a ladder and have had a lot of spare time. I have had a Clarkair CA-1 since early 1970. I never realized what it was until I saw this site. I got it by trading a 1929 open cab GMC fire truck for it. In looking at other photos, it would appear to be fairly complete with a winch on the rear, rusty of course and needs sheet metal work. It is in running condition but has not been run for three years. Someone has changed the 6 volt system to 12 volt, still used the 6 volt starter. Good thing they were well built. I would need a 6 volt generator, regulator, and coil to restore it. The data plate has the following information:
EBPO C-4837
Date 2-8-43
US Registration Number 963623
Mfg. Serial number CA-143552
Not sure I will ever get it restored but I would like to get it running and play with it again. Does anyone have the training manual or a copy for this thing? Engine is not a problem but I would like information on the drive train, how to adjust the clutches, proper lubricant, etc. If you do, I would really like to hear from you.

Hello Robert and Ken. I am not sure how the site works but I tried to reply to a PM from Ken and there is no link to allow replies.

Anyhow, maybe a revival of this site is possible. It looks as though not many folks are active on it. I am looking for parts so email and PM's work for me. I am also on g503.com as DavidA so if you want to have some dialogue over that site, just PM me there as I can then reply.

Have fun with your projects as I am hoping to do the same.

I am looking for:

Seat
2 Lifting eyes - rear
Battery box drawing would be awesome.

San Francisco Bay Area is the home for this CA1 and it is running with a little smoke but nevertheless running. It is tired and shouldn't be worked too hard. As you are probably aware, they are rare and hard to repair so treating it with care is a good plan.

Looking forward to hearing back. Please feel free to use the PM method if it is available on this site and if not, feel free to contact me on G503.com where I have the same user name.

Not too good navigating this site yet so I am not sure this is correct or not. If it is, a drawing of the battery box would be great as mine has none. When you said mail, I assume you meant regular mail.
When I get them, I assure you they will go no further. My address is:

Robert L. Wehrley
551 North Main Street
Eldorado, Ohio 45321-9724

Many thanks!
