I noticed the hydraulic lines back to the pull equipment is mounted low, right under the frame, near the winch.

interesting. Clark engineers must have found out very fast that this was a good place to get the lines ripped out quickly!

Yep! Look at fig 13 on p. 6. Quite a difference from the high mounted couplings. My current CA-1 does not have any rearward lines. I'm not sure if they were simply removed, or if there was a spec for CA-1s w/o the lines going aft. Its one thing missing on a number of others as well.
