Pre-cleaner glass bowl WOES

I beleive I have what is an original style of Pre-cleaner on my Clark.

see photos here:

http://public.fotki.com/dachoppa/pre-cleaner/

Mine has a screw type fastener to what makes obviuos sense, is to secure the glass jar in place.

However, after purchasing the proper Ball Mason jar, wide mouth type, its too small.. I cant tighten up the screw nearly enough to make it compress enough to hold the jar in place.

I looked back on past posts, looking at the Farmall pre-cleaner that Oz bought, and he has a screw in type of housing to match the mason jars screw thereas. I have nothing like that on mine.

Anyone else on this forum have a pre-cleaner that looks like mine? Is mine a correct original, or not, by chance?

It appears to looks like the one in the photos that Alex posted, in the section of "other clarks"... THe posting with all of the photos of the original Clark sporting original paint.

It might be that the military pre cleaners did not have threaded jars, whereas the Farmall versions were threaded. Perhaps that is why the mil version has the added clamp not found on the Farmall? Does anone have a photo of the mil ball jar No 11/14?

Oz,

Thanks for the picture. I did not know how the jar was held on.

In checking the Steiner catalog I see that they have 3 of those type of clamps for sale (all repro). Unfortunately only one has dimensions listed. The other 2 are only listed as fitting by make and model. All are around $10

I need to go out and and measure the lip and see which size I need to get.

Again Thanks,

Bill

Hey Oz.
I seen your postings with the pix with the pre-cleaner mason jar, and it appear as if my precleaner metal clamp is correct and original.

anyone want to sell a true glass jar that actually fits the stock pre-cleaner clamp?

I know I know... I can use a ball mason.. however, the one I bought just dont fit.

I bought one a while ago also. It is very similar, but just not the same. As soon as I dig it out I'll check the fit. The markings on the new glass is a bit different.
