Hi Don, did you ever purchase this distributor? they are still on Ebay, but I think they are too tall to be usable, about 3/4" taller body?? it says 1959-1973, so with the amount of space available, it might not work?

Have ordered one, so we'll see, was only $69.00 with free shipping, so at least some parts should be usable!?

OK, I just got that one in, and took it apart, the extra lenght is just because there's breather element in the bottom, I will machine this out, and take the required lenght of the total height, and drill new holes, should be not too difficult, will make pictures! It's well worth the money for the parts alone, and the nice cad plated hardware!. but not a direct replacement, as it sticks out too much and will hit the side plate.

OK, I modified the distributor, I just machined 7/16" from the top, and inside, and relocated the holes also 7/16" lower, and pressed the top bushing in 7/16" and drilled a new lubrication hole, this was not an easy job for the faint hearted, but it's possible, will add more pictures when I have riveted the dataplate on. on the question of how the distributor cap was located, see below, there is a 45 degree identation in the cap, on the outside under the clip, this locates on the spring clip holder, this sticks out a bit, very easy to replicate! Also note a rubber ring under the cap.

The gear fits on the shaft, no probs there, but the shaft needs to be shortened, and holes to be drilled for the gear and the oil slinger, that needs to go higher up on the shaft, a milling machine is required here for best results.
