How about a 12V ALTERNATOR in a GENERATOR housing?

not for the purist, but these are nice.
They make Alternators that are built into Generator housings. they can take yours and do the re-fit and send it back.
I read about this at one time on the G503 forum under mods..
Click on this link. First thing that pops up is a "CADILLAC" generator/alternator image.. You can click on any of the smaller Icons and get it to enlarge.
Look to the second from the bottom row, and the second icon image, second one in from the left.
Looks suspiciously familair to your generator, Oz..

It looks like an interesting alternative that would allow you to keep the original look. In my case, going with the min-alternator will work for me.. I am in the process of re-painting the outside a flat black to reduce the "eye -shock" once installed. Still, I think it will work fine for me... I can keep my stock generator on a shelf until the day I wish to get it looking more "authentic" (if that day comes) and pursue a route like this
